African American Ministries

WHAT WE DO

The African American Ministries Department assists and promotes the body of Christ within the Central California Conference, giving special emphasis to the unique cultural needs of the African American church members and community. We seek to affect and maintain the harmonious development of human relations between cultures within the sisterhood of churches while nurturing and equipping members for excellence in ministry. Functions to represent the interest of the African American work on various local conference and Pacific Union Conference committees. Our department intentionally equips and restructures the local church to be purpose and mission-driven, while rebuilding families and developing creative ministries tailored to the needs of each local church and surrounding community. African American leaders and pastors engage in refining and retooling ministries to transform barriers into bridges for cultural, socioeconomic, age, and gender inclusivity for spiritual wholeness and lifestyle awareness. The department’s foundation for success is found in prayer ministries in the homes, as well as during local church weeks of prayer, mid-week prayer meetings, and power and praise services at the local church and local community venues.
