BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — In the spirit of Matthew 25:40, “Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these,” Bakersfield Central Seventh-day Adventist Church held its 2nd Annual Back 2 School Party, a community outreach event aimed at supporting local families during a time of economic uncertainty.

With inflation continuing to strain household budgets, many families are struggling to meet basic needs. In response, the church organized this event to provide children and their families with essential resources for the upcoming school year—while also introducing them to the hope and love found in Jesus Christ.

Thanks to the blessings and providence of God, the church distributed 138 backpacks filled with school supplies and biblical literature. In addition to these donations, families were able to connect with local community service providers offering assistance in areas such as rent and utilities, clothing, physical activities, healthy food access, dental hygiene, and medical support.

A highlight of the event was the presence of the Adventist Health Immunization Mobile Team, which provided free immunizations to approximately 15 children.

The impact of the event extended beyond material support. One family who attended the event joined the church for worship the following Sabbath and expressed interest in beginning Bible studies.

“This event was a huge success, and we give all glory to God,” organizers shared.

The Back 2 School Party continues to grow as a vital outreach initiative, meeting both the practical and spiritual needs of the Bakersfield community.
