FRESNO, Calif. — On October 5, children and families from across the Central California Conference gathered at Fresno Adventist Academy for the annual Adventurer Tyke-A-Thon—a day of faith, fun, and perseverance on two wheels.
The event began with a devotional inspired by Hebrews 12:1–2, which encouraged participants to “run with perseverance, fixing our eyes on Jesus.” The message set the tone for the day, reminding young riders that their spiritual and physical journeys both require focus and endurance.
With that encouragement, Adventurers set off around the academy’s half-mile loop, riding under the theme “Riding with Purpose.” Participants from multiple clubs took part, with some completing 10, 20, and even 41.5 miles. Their enthusiasm and teamwork made the day a celebration of both faith and fitness.

The Tyke-A-Thon was organized under the leadership of Central California Conference Junior Youth Director Norma Villarreal, with support from Administrative Assistant Sandra Pasillas and Master Guide University staff Maybelle Batulayan, Cynthia Aguilar Paypa, and Wendell Paypa.
The event has become a beloved annual tradition, combining physical activity with spiritual growth. Four-year-old Ava Delval from the Central Valley Golden Eagles Club was one of the youngest participants. “I didn’t want to stop riding because Jesus was helping me go,” she said after completing 11.2 miles.
“Watching our little Adventurers ride with such joy and determination reminded me of the beauty of childlike faith—simple, steady, and full of trust,” Villarreal said. “Their smiles said it all: when we keep our eyes on Jesus, the journey becomes pure joy.”
The Tyke-A-Thon concluded with a shared sense of gratitude and accomplishment. Organizers thanked all participating Adventurers, parents, and club directors for helping make the event a success.
As Villarreal reflected, the spirit of the day echoed Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” The young riders truly demonstrated what it means to “ride with purpose,” propelled by faith and joy.
