"Abiding In Jesus" - Pastor Joel Sarmiento

You don’t want your phone to run out of power in the middle of a busy day, especially when there’s so much to do. That’s why most of us make sure to charge our phones before going to bed or first thing in the morning. Staying connected to a power source is essential for our devices—but staying connected to Jesus is even more vital for our lives.

In John 15, Jesus emphasizes the importance of abiding in Him. He is the Vine, and we are the branches. A branch can only grow and bear fruit if it remains connected to the vine.

This chapter beautifully illustrates the spiritual growth process of every believer. Branches that do not bear fruit are taken away (v.2a), while those that do are pruned so they can produce even more (v.2b). As we continue to abide in Jesus—drawing strength, nourishment, and guidance from Him—we will bear much fruit (v.5). The ultimate goal is that our fruitful lives bring glory to God. As Jesus said, “By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples” (John 15:8, NKJV).
