We are delighted to introduce Pastor Joel Sarmiento, the newest member of our Central California Conference team, currently serving as the Church Pastor at Monterey Peninsula Seventh-day Adventist Church. With 28 years of ministry experience, he brings invaluable wisdom and dedication to our community.
Pastor Sarmiento has a rich history of service. He spent 20 years as a church and district pastor in the Central Luzon Conference, followed by eight years as a Union director. In December 2015, he was elected Communications Director of the North Philippine Union Conference, and was re-elected in November 2021. His leadership journey continued as he became President of Hope Channel Philippines in February 2023.
Pastor Sarmiento's educational background is extensive. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Philippine Union College (now Adventist University of the Philippines) in 1995, completed his Master in Ministry in 2013, and achieved his Doctor of Ministry in 2022 from Adventist International Institute of Advanced Studies (AIIAS).
In May 2024, Pastor Sarmiento and his family relocated to California to join the Central California Conference. His wife, Shyree Ann De Guzman Sarmiento, is a dedicated nurse. They are blessed with three children: Joel Jr. (23), who graduated with a Bachelor of Theology and is pursuing a Juris Doctor degree; Joanna (22), in her third year of Nursing school; and Johann (18), preparing to enter Senior High School.
