MONTEREY, Calif. (May 7) — Conference leaders, pastors and church members from across Area 3 gathered at the Monterey Bay Academy Church on May 7 for the Area 3 Conference Connects event, a meeting designed to strengthen collaboration, communication and shared commitment to mission across the Central California Conference.

Attendees described the gathering as an opportunity to foster unity between conference leadership and local congregations. One pastor referred to the event as “collaboration to accomplish the mission,” while another participant expressed appreciation for conference officers engaging directly with members in local communities.

“It is really good to see the Conference officers coming down to the field to be closer to the members while sharing the direction and concerns of the Conference,” the attendee said.

Participants noted that the event reflected conference leaders’ emphasis on transparency and partnership in advancing the mission of the church throughout the region.

The program opened with a presentation from Conference President Pastor Ricardo Viloria, who outlined the Conference’s mission and vision while emphasizing the importance of cultivating a healthy church culture.

Executive Secretary Pastor David Dean provided an overview of the departments under his leadership and highlighted ongoing efforts to support a mission-centered church. Conference Treasurer Michael Wixwat shared updates on the organization’s financial status, reporting that conference needs continue to be met through stewardship promotion and administrative adjustments.

Vice President for Ministries Anil Kanda presented updates on various conference ministries, placing particular emphasis on youth engagement and outreach to individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and worldviews.

The event concluded with a question-and-answer session, allowing attendees to engage directly with conference leadership. Organizers said the dialogue reinforced a shared commitment to cooperation among conference leaders, local churches, institutions and members in carrying forward the mission entrusted to the church.

Attendees expressed appreciation for the opportunity to hear updates, ask questions and participate in conversations centered on strengthening ministry through collaboration.

Leaders emphasized throughout the gathering that accomplishing the church’s mission requires not only vision from administration, but partnership among all levels of the church community.
