MONTEREY, Calif. (May 2) — Members from churches across Area 3 of the Central California Conference gathered April 29 through May 2 for a series of revival meetings centered on the theme of hope, faith and spiritual renewal.

The first three evenings were held at the Monterey Peninsula Seventh-day Adventist Church, while the final meeting took place at the Monterey Bay Academy gymnasium and was followed by the area’s quarterly gym night. Programs were broadcast live through church social media platforms and Zoom, allowing participants to join both in person and online. A hospitality team from Monterey Peninsula SDA Church provided light dinners before each evening’s 7 p.m. service.

The opening message was presented by Pastor Cris Suarez of the Monterey Bay Academy Church, who spoke on the “Crisis of Belief.” Suarez said that while people today face wars, calamities and family struggles, the greatest crisis is the loss of belief and hope. He emphasized the importance of trusting that God remains present amid uncertainty and hardship.

On the second evening, Pastor Cesar Alfonso delivered a message titled “From the Grave to Glory,” focusing on the hope found in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Alfonso reminded attendees that although death brings separation, Christians hold to the promise of reunion and eternal life through Christ.

Friday evening’s message was presented by Pastor David Pikop of the Hollister Church, who emphasized Jesus as the living hope and foundation of salvation. He encouraged attendees to remain focused on “that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ.”

The final message of the revival series was delivered by Pastor Joel Sarmiento at Monterey Bay Academy. Speaking on “Hope and God’s People,” Sarmiento challenged members to reflect hope in their daily lives and relationships as believers awaiting Christ’s return.

Special music throughout the meetings was provided by Pastor Byungchul Shin and members of his congregation. Pastor Emmanuel Hernandez and members from the Seaside and Salinas Hispanic churches also participated in musical worship.

Following each message, couples, families and small groups gathered in prayer, creating opportunities for fellowship and spiritual reflection. Organizers said those moments embodied the deeper purpose of revival — renewing faith through prayer, community and dependence on God.

Leaders noted that in a world where many search for hope through temporary sources such as possessions, pleasure or success, Christians are called to share what they believe is lasting hope found in Jesus Christ.

The revival meetings underscored a central message repeated throughout the week: amid uncertainty and change, faith remains an anchor, and hope remains a calling to be lived and shared.
