Conference Announces Various Personnel Transitions: Executive Secretary David Dean Calls for Stronger Collaboration

Updated: Apr 11

CLOVIS, Calif. — Conference officials have announced a series of personnel transitions and new appointments to strengthen ministry efforts and revitalize the local field. According to Executive Secretary David Dean, the changes reflect an increased emphasis on unity and building a healthier environment across the region.

“We believe these updates will help our churches, schools, and ministries operate more cohesively,” Dean said. “By focusing on collaboration and open dialogue, we hope to cultivate strong relationships that support our overall mission.”

Dennis Tello began his new pastoral responsibilities in February, serving the Modesto Parkwood and Oakdale churches.

Antonio Huerta began pastoral service at Kerman Church in March. In addition to leading the congregation, he will support small churches with growth strategies and leadership development, as well as lay leadership programs centered on training and equipping lay preachers.

Steve Hamilton will join Turlock Church in May, where he will be officially installed. Cris Suarez assumes the role of lead pastor at Monterey Bay Academy Church in May, partnering closely with the academy to sustain a strong church-school relationship.

In the area of youth and young adult ministry, Delinda Hamilton began serving as director in March. Her current focus is preparing for summer camp and fostering an enriching environment for young people.

Beginning in March, Pastor Brian Simmons assumed the role of Camp Director for Camp Wawona, advancing the conference’s commitment to revitalizing facilities, strengthening youth outreach, and deepening spiritual experiences in nature.

Newly elected Conference Treasurer Michael Wixwat is set to begin his duties on May 16. In the meantime, Associate Treasurer Karlonne Lewis is overseeing the Treasury Department and handling all financial inquiries. Mayra Thompson has been assigned to special projects, conducting research and financial analysis.

Dean also announced that Pastors George Johnson, Carlos Garcia, Justin Aguilar, Jose Pagan, Edgar Sanchez, and Hananiah Ruff are no longer employed with the Central California Conference.

He underscored the importance of strengthening communication among church leaders, school principals, and local congregations, noting that enhanced collaboration will create a welcoming atmosphere for incoming pastors and maintain a supportive ministry environment.

“When everyone works together and supports each other, we create a community that truly reflects our values,” Dean said. “We appreciate the prayers, cooperation, and encouragement of all members as these new personnel transitions take place.”
