Resignation Announcement — Ken Bullington, Vice President for Education

The Central California Conference has announced that Ken Bullington will resign from the position of Vice President for Education, effective September 30, 2025. His last day in the office will be June 30, after which he will take time off until his resignation date.

His 47 years of denominational service, all in the Central California Conference, attest to a steadfast commitment to Adventist education and to cultivating supportive, spiritually focused learning environments.

Mr. Bullington began his ministry in 1978 as a teacher, later serving as vice principal and principal. In 1992 he joined the conference office as Associate Superintendent of Secondary Education, a position he held for 24 years. Since 2016, he has guided our school system as Vice President for Education, providing thoughtful planning, collaboration, and consistent support.

Among his notable contributions, Mr. Bullington pioneered the Friendship Games Sports Ministry, which not only promoted the Adventist health message through encouraging fitness but also led young people to develop their connection to Christ through a love of being active alongside their peers and offers them unique opportunities to minister to local communities. Additional ways Mr. Bullington has set a climate for students to commune with their peers, connect with Christ, and serve communities include Bible Challenge and Bible Encounter programs, the biannual secondary Choral Festival, and most recently, the first-ever CCC multi-school international mission trip, which took a total of 76 individuals from five different senior and junior academies to serve the community of Lipa Adventist Academy in the Philippines! Curriculum-wise, Mr. Bullington is responsible for the development and implementation of the Advanced Honors Diploma program for students in grades 9-12.

Mr. Bullington’s greatest burden, however, is seeing students – and educators alike! – continually growing in their walks with Jesus Christ as their best friend. Throughout his time in the CCC Education Department, Mr. Bullington worked with each school in the development of their Spiritual Action Plans, which were implemented on the CCC school campuses in a variety of ways ranging from providing students with platforms to deliver messages to their peers, involving local pastors in school-sanctioned spiritual activities, and teaching the importance of serving God by serving others. Under Mr. Bullington’s leadership, the Spiritual Action Plan formally became cemented as a required piece of the accreditation process in 2022. In addition to this rollout, all school educators were given detailed training on spiritual growth in their own lives and on the campuses to which they minister.

One of Mr. Bullington’s innovations for supporting educators in the field is the Mentor Teacher Program, which pairs newer educators with veteran teachers from different schools, encouraging personal, professional, and spiritual growth, as well as helping these incoming teachers learn to allow themselves to be supported by their peers.

Mr. Bullington is responsible for the development of designated Task Force Committees within the Board of Education focusing on the areas of housing costs, school governance, hiring practices (recruitment of and retention incentives for educators), allocation of evangelism funds, student scholarships, and marketing and enrollment.

Mr. Bullington also worked to develop a unique program for schools and their boards to collaborate in marketing efforts and receive additional funding after completion of this program, the Haystack Grant. Through his work with the Archie Tonge Foundation, Ken Bullington was able to procure funding to implement a new scholarship, the Multi-Student Family Scholarship, which helps alleviate the financial burden on families with multiple students in CCC schools.

The Central California Conference thanks Ken Bullington for his dedicated service and the positive influence he has had on thousands of learners and educators. We pray for God’s guidance as he enters the next chapter of his professional and personal life.
