Forty-five new Master Guides were invested at this year’s Soquel Camp Meeting. The Central California Conference Master Guide University, led by Wendell Paypa, was opened recently and this is the first graduating class (Cohort 1) for this program. This marks a first for both the Central California Conference and the Pacific Union Conference.
Randy Hill, vice president of Youth Ministries for the Pacific Union Conference, led out in the commissioning of the Master Guides. His message called for them to perform with integrity as leaders, reminding them that their leadership is only beginning. Every action they take will be an example to the children who look up to them, often without them realizing it. He encouraged them to serve their churches with integrity, to walk with their kids in compassion, to build a passionate community, and to nurture the faith of the youth in their care.
“It is with great joy and admiration that I extend heartfelt congratulations to each of you for your outstanding achievement. Your hard work, dedication, and perseverance have culminated in the successful completion of the rigorous leadership training requirements,” said Wendell Paypa, graduate of the Mountain View College Master Guide Class of 1985.
Also represented at this momentous event were Sandra Pasillas, CCC Youth Ministries administrative assistant and Norma Villarreal, CCC Junior Youth Ministries director. Paypa thanked them for “taking the challenge and the trust as we casted the vision and took a leap of faith in opening the Master Guide University.”
In addition to Paypa, the CCC Master Guide University includes executive staff Pastor Edward Smith, director of instruction; Maybelle Batulayan, records and admissions director; and Cynthia Aguilar Paypa, executive assistant. “To each of you, I extend my deepest gratitude for your innumerable hours of planning, coordinating, and managing the myriad of emails, phone calls, and schedules that have culminated in the success of this inaugural cohort of the Master Guide Training program,” added Paypa.
Registration for the next Master Guide class, or Cohort 2, will be opening Oct. 15, 2024. Only a limited number of applicants will be accepted. Learn more at www.cccpathfinders.org.
