VISALIA, Calif. — Members of the Visalia Pioneers and Visalia Ark Guardians Pathfinder clubs represented the Central California Conference during the 79th Annual Candy Cane Lane Parade on Dec. 1, participating in one of the city’s longest-running holiday traditions.

Led by the Visalia Pioneers Drum Corps, the Pathfinders marched through downtown Visalia, engaging spectators with music and coordinated movement. The clubs’ participation highlighted youth involvement in community service and faith-based outreach.

Central California Conference Junior Youth Director Norma Villarreal accompanied the group and represented Youth Ministries during the event. She said the parade provided an opportunity for Pathfinders to reflect their faith while serving the community.

As part of their outreach efforts, Pathfinders distributed GLOW tracts to parade attendees, continuing an initiative they previously carried out during the Visalia Veterans Parade. Organizers said the materials were shared as a way to connect with families and emphasize the spiritual meaning of the holiday season.

This act of kindness brought to life the words of Isaiah 60:1: “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.”

And shine they did, every wave, smile, and greeting reflected the love of Christ in a tangible way.

The Central California Conference recognized the leadership of Pathfinder directors Jeannette Guillen Peterson and Garrick Peterson of the Visalia Pioneers, and Joseph and Belinda Evette Castillo of the Visalia Ark Guardians, along with their staff teams. Appreciation was also extended to Area 6 Coordinator Nena Millan and to the Visalia Pioneers for organizing and coordinating the marching unit.

Conference leaders described the parade as both a community celebration and an opportunity for ministry, noting the role of youth in representing their faith through service and public engagement.

The Central California Conference continues to support Pathfinder clubs as they participate in events that promote leadership, service and community involvement throughout the region.
