Pathfinder Strong: 200 Pathfinders Conquer the CCC Bike‑a‑thon

ree

FRESNO, Calif. — Nearly 200 energetic Pathfinders pedaled through sun-splashed miles at the Central California Conference’s annual Pathfinder Bike-a-thon, a one-day ride where cyclists ages 10–16 tackled sponsored mileage goals—some topping an impressive 100 miles.

A Joyful Challenge

“It was such a joy riding alongside these amazing young people and cheering them on every mile of the way,” said Wendell, who serves as one of our Master Guide Coordinators. Laps circled a closed course, allowing Pathfinders to push their limits in a setting that blended friendly competition with faith-centered encouragement.

KaPAdYaK Connection

Wendell and fellow marshal Jun Bulahan Tagaro—both members of the KaPAdYaK California Triple Crown (CTC) cycling team—donned their signature CTC jerseys that sparked questions from curious riders: “Two hundred miles in one day? Three double-centuries in a year?” Jun, also a registered nurse, doubled as on-course medical support. “We hope these young riders will chase their own Triple Crown dreams—and, more importantly, strive for the ultimate crown: Heaven,” Wendell reflected.

Food, Fellowship, and Strong Support

Pathfinder clubs lined the venue with food booths, adding tacos, smoothies, and other treats to refresh riders and families alike. Behind the scenes, Norma Villarreal, CCC Junior Youth Ministries Director, and Sandra Pasillas, Administrative Assistant, coordinated logistics alongside area coordinators, club directors, medical teams, and volunteers. “The joy of serving… never gets old,” Wendell noted, highlighting the blend of service and camaraderie that defined the day.

A Powerful Finish

The final lap was led by Pastor Anil Kanda, CCC Vice President for Ministries. His spirited lead-out formed a moving parade of cyclists crossing the finish line together—an unforgettable ending that underlined the event’s spiritual heartbeat.

More Than a Fundraiser

This Bike-a-thon isn’t just the conference’s biggest fundraiser of the year; it’s a living example of how young people can set the pace in faith and perseverance. As Hebrews 12:1 reminds us, “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” Today, these young leaders rode with purpose, surrounded by supporters cheering them on—spiritually and literally.

Ride On—With PurposeOrganizers invite churches and families to get involved by:

  • Sponsoring future Bike-a-thon riders or mileage goals.

  • Volunteering as course marshals, medical personnel, or booth helpers.

  • Praying for Pathfinder clubs as they nurture resilience, leadership, and a lifelong walk with Jesus.

“Every pedal stroke today was a reminder that serving together strengthens both body and soul,” Wendell said. “Pathfinder strong—ride with purpose, pedal with heart.”
